At age 20, Austin was diagnosed with Level 1 autism. Rather than limiting him, that diagnosis realigned his purpose. He committed himself to understanding who he is and, more importantly, to serving as a bridge for others to better understand autism.
Racing is Austin’s passion, but it is also his platform—a way to educate, advocate, and amplify voices that are too often unheard. His mission is simple yet profound: to remind us that people with autism may not always be given a voice, but they absolutely have things to say.
A Mission in Motion
Austin’s dream of becoming a professional racecar driver is about more than personal success—it’s the engine for his greater mission. He strives to succeed on the track so that he can bring his nonprofit vision to the entire nation and beyond: introducing driving to people with autism.
Driving presents unique challenges for many on the spectrum, from sensory overload to heightened fear responses. As a result, only about one-third of teens with autism ever obtain a driver’s license. Austin is determined to change that. Through his nonprofit, he creates opportunities for autistic individuals to safely experience driving in the form of a simulator—helping them build confidence, practice skills, and overcome barriers in an environment that feels empowering rather than overwhelming.
For Austin, every lap completed isn’t just progress toward a podium finish—it’s progress toward a world where more people with autism can discover freedom, independence, and belonging behind the wheel.
